luminosity: The total power output
of a radiation source such as a star or
galaxy. Stars can be classified by their
relative luminosities: supergiants,
bright giants, giants, subgiants,
dwarfs, and subdwarfs. Although our
Sun is bright enough to blind a
person from 149 million kilometers,
it is classified as a dwarf.
